Pruning and the body

An incredible realization about the body is understanding that it is always in the present moment. Getting in tune with your body is getting in tune with the present.

The embodiment of pruning can exist in various parts of our body. Consider a recent difficult decision you made. Tension around decisions is natural and that tension can be carried in a specific part of our body. Until we listen to our body it might be difficult to even realize we are carrying the tension. Once it is acknowledged it can be easier to release the tension.

The mind/body connection works both ways and releasing the tension in our bodies can generate a sense of release and peace in our mind. This practice of mindfulness with the body is often referred to as a body scan, where an individual tenses a part of their body and then moments later releases the tension. Try doing a body scan right now, tensing parts of your body and then releasing them. Start with the top of your head and move down the body, ending with your toes.

Consider your own body:

Where in your body do you have tension right now?
How might you release tension in your mind through your body?
What might your body be trying to tell you right now?
